Project scope

  • Performed as on campus, lab work.
  • Suitable for School of Engineering research-based courses, such as: ENGN2706, ENGN2707, ENGN3706, ENGN3712, ENGN4200, ENGN4350, ENGN4706, ENGN4712, ENGN4718, ENGN8601 or ENGN8602.
  • Suitable for both domestic and international students.
  • Objectives:
    • Develop new Atomic Layer Deposition processes to produce nanolayers of materials
    • Characterize the interface properties of these nanolayers with silicon

Project description

The project aims at producing nanolayers of materials (e.g. Al2O3) and analyze its behavior when in contact with the silicon surface. Depending on timelines, the project can vary from engineering and developing the process to applying these nanolayers on test structures to assess their potential performance in solar cells.

Deliverables

  • This can be discussed at a later stage with the project supervisor.
