Biography
Dr Ary Anggara Wibowo is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Photovoltaics Group at the School of Engineering, The Australian National University (ANU). He received his Master of Energy Change from ANU in 2020 and was conferred his PhD in Photovoltaic Engineering at ANU in 2025. His doctoral research focused on the growth, defect engineering, and optoelectronic characterisation of transition metal dichalcogenide heterostructures for photovoltaic applications. Following his PhD, Dr Wibowo joined the ANU PV Group as a postdoctoral researcher. His current research focuses on the development of wide-bandgap chalcogenide and van der Waals (vdW) absorber materials for silicon tandem solar cells, with an emphasis on scalable thin-film deposition, interface engineering, and device integration. His work aims to enable stable, earth-abundant, and industry-compatible tandem photovoltaic technologies.
Research
Dr Wibowo’s primary research focuses on the development of wide-bandgap chalcogenide and vdW absorber materials for silicon tandem solar cells, with an emphasis on scalable thin-film deposition, interface engineering, and device integration. In addition to his core research program, Dr Wibowo is actively engaged in complementary research areas, including perovskites, the growth of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDs), photo- and electro-catalysis, optoelectronic materials and devices, and renewable energy solutions. Through these interdisciplinary activities, he integrates fundamental materials science with advanced characterisation and device engineering to support the development of high-performance, stable, and industry-relevant energy technologies.
